The village of Mortehoe, some 15 miles from Barnstaple and 7 miles from Ilfracombe, lies on the peninsula of Morte Point and is surrounded on three sides by the South West Coast Path. Woolacombe Beach is just over a mile away to the south-west.
If approaching Mortehoe from Woolacombe, drive along The Esplanade then uphill past the Watersmeet Hotel and into Mortehoe, passing St. Mary’s Church on your left. Follow the road round to the right and opposite the Post Office (outside which there is a brown directional sign) turn right into North Devon Council’s Pay & Display Car Park. The Museum is towards the rear of the Car Park on the right.
When travelling from Barnstaple and Ilfracombe via Mullacott Cross, take the B3343 towards Lee, Mortehoe and Woolacombe, passing Chartervets and the turning to Lee on your right. Go through the S-bend and before reaching the Fortescue Arms turn right towards Mortehoe and follow the road to the village, turning left into North Devon Council’s Pay & Display Car Park, opposite the Post Office.
